On Friday night, August 19, we had a bar-be-que dinner with cash bar, a little vintage music in the background, and lots of conversation for our casual evening at the Mike Onka Hall in Sugar Creek. Folks started arriving around 6 pm and we didn't pull the balloons down until almost midnight. A keg of beer, lots of Cokes and a few bottles of wine kept the conversation flowing as old friends found each other in the crowd. Laughter punctuated the room frequently as well-loved stories were told and retold. By the way, for those who missed it, Louie Francis did a superb job with his smoked pork bar-be-que. Ummmmm-good!
Saturday night's cocktail buffet at the Stadium Club in Royals Stadium was a focal point for the evening. The Club laid out an elegant buffet with excellent food and decadent desserts And while we all said, "oh, we shouldn't eat that much," we did anyway!
For a good part of the evening, until picture time, most of the conversation revolved around the tables. After the group picture, we did lots of mixing around and finally ended up in a giant circle of chairs, telling the same stories from the night before.

A highlight for many was the presence of Ingrid Krenn, our Austrian foreign exchange student, shown here at left with several attending the Friday night party . Ingrid regularly gets to visit the United States in her job recruiting teachers but she seldom gets out to the Midwest. Ingrid was with us both nights.
A Memory Book, creatively prepared by Donna King Gibbens, brought us up to date on each other's lives....except for Louie Francis who forgot to give his information to Donna. (It's OK, Louie.....do it next time.) Donna Gibbens did have some books available. Send an e-mail to Donna and maybe she will send one to you.
